PokerStars Marketing Code

When you first register a PokerStars account, one of the things the site wants to know is how you heard about them, as determining how players hear about PokerStars helps the company direct their marketing efforts to the locations which attract the highest volume of new players.

Consequently, during the registration process, a drop-box is located beneath where you enter and confirm your email address which reads Where did you hear about PokerStars? and, when you click on the down arrow next to it, a list of options appear.

Tenth on the list (of 16 options) is Marketing Code. You should select this option and then enter the 2023 PokerStars marketing code psa3714 in the box which magically appears underneath.

Entering the PokerStars marketing code does not enhance the PokerStars bonus for a new player, but it will help PokerStars to get more new players which will then result in bigger online poker tournaments with greater prize values (so it is worth doing).

Difference between PokerStars Marketing Code and Bonus Code

To take advantage of PokerStars 100% match bonuses on new player poker deposits, you need to insert a different “bonus” code when your first deposit is made. The value of the PokerStars new player bonus is going to depend on your country of residence and the currency in which you open your account.

  • For accounts opened in £ sterling, use the PokerStars bonus code STARS400 in the Cashier section to qualify for a 100% match bonus on deposits up to £400.00
  • European players in countries where their national currency is the €uro, should enter the PokerStars bonus code STARS500 to be eligible for a 100% match bonus up to €500.00
  • Everybody else (or players who hold their poker bankroll in dollars) should use the PokerStars bonus code STARS600 to be entitled to a 100% Match bonus up to $600.00.

For players in the UK who open an account in £ Sterling, this will mean that their first three deposits of a total value up to £400.00 will be eligible for a bonus of up to £400.00, while players in Europe using the PokerStars bonus code will be entitled to redeem a bonus of up to €500.00 and anybody who opens their account in $ dollars will qualify for a bonus of up to $600.00 provided that the appropriate PokerStars bonus code is used when making each of the first three deposits.

Is There Any Benefit to Opening an Account in Dollars?

Players in the UK and Europe have the option of funding their accounts in either £ Sterling, €uros or $ Dollars. Although it may seem a good idea to open a PokerStars account in $ Dollars to get a bigger bonus when the $ Dollar is strong and valued at less than $1.50/£1.00 or $1.50/€1.25, it is worth remembering that the exchange rates of currencies can be volatile and that players may incur foreign exchange charges when they transfer their winnings back to their home currency.

It is often the case that opening a PokerStars account with the currency of your credit card or eWallet is the best way to go, as your winnings could take a serious knock if the value of the $ Dollar has decreased by 10% while you were racking up a decent poker bankroll and then, to add insult to injury, your credit card company or eWallet provider charges you another 5% commission to change your $ Dollars back into €uros or £ Sterling.

Clearing the PokerStars New Player Bonus by Playing Stud Poker

Irrespective of the risks of currency exchange values, we would like to demonstrate how easy it is to clear the PokerStars new player bonus by using the PokerStars marketing code for 2023: psa3714 and the PokerStars bonus code STARS600 in an account funded with dollars

PokerStars awards VIP Player Points (VPPs) at a rate of 5.5 per dollar raked at cash game tables or per dollar paid to enter Sit n Go and Multi Table Tournaments. The PokerStars bonus is released in increments of $10 each time a player collects 170 VPPs (different rates apply to different currencies); so a player opening a PokerStars account with a $600.00 would have to earn 10,200 VPPs within 183 days to redeem the full value of their poker bonus.

The simplest way of clearing a PokerStars poker bonus by playing Stud Poker is to head to the $0.50/$1.00 7 Card Hi Lo Stud Poker tables and buy in to the table with $50.00 worth of chips.

The average pot at this level is typically around $5.00, from which PokerStars will deduct $0.25 from each pot in rake for hosting the game and award 1.375 VIP Player Points (VPPs – awarded at a rate of 5.5/$1 raked).

Most players only go beyond third street 33% of the time in a game of 7 Card Hi Lo Stud Poker and, on a table that plays 80 hands an hour, this would mean that (in the space of an hour) our new player would typically participate in 26 hands and contribute approximately $3.25 to the rake.

Our player would then be on a VPP rate per hour of 17.875, which would mean they would have to play for a total of 571 hours over the 183 qualifying days (or little more than three hours per day) to clear their full PokerStars new player bonus.

That might seem like a bit of a commitment for the sake of a $600.00 bonus but, because of the high level of traffic at PokerStars Stud Poker tables, it should be possible to consecutively play on three tables at a time (reducing the commitment per day to around one hour) or, in peak times, playing on six tables at one time – reducing the length of time it would take to cleat the full PokerStars new player poker bonus to under 100 hours – without doubt the fastest of any online poker site.

Remember to Use the PokerStars Code

As mentioned above, the PokerStars marketing code does not enhance the PokerStars bonus for a new player. However, if PokerStars see plenty of new players registering accounts from a site dedicated to playing Stud Poker, PokerStars is likely to increase the volume of Stud cash game tables and online Stud Poker tournaments to meet the rising demand.
